🌸 Why You Shouldn’t Take Away Your Toddler’s Dummy During Big Life Changes 🌸

For a toddler, a dummy isn’t just a habit — it’s comfort, safety, and emotional regulation in one small item šŸ’•

When your 2–3-year-old is potty training and adjusting to a new baby, taking away their dummy can actually cause more stress than progress.

Here’s why šŸ‘‡

šŸ’ Emotional security matters

Their dummy helps them feel safe and calm when big feelings or changes happen. Losing it now can feel like losing their ā€œsafe space.ā€

🧠 Too much change = overload

Potty training + new sibling + no dummy = emotional meltdown territory šŸ˜…

Keeping the dummy a bit longer gives them the stability they need.

🚽 Regression is real (and normal)

If we push too fast, toddlers can slip back — more accidents, more tears, less sleep. A bit of comfort goes a long way.

šŸ’ž Wait for readiness

Once your little one is more settled, you can start gently phasing out the dummy:

✨ Only at nap/bedtime

✨ Let them help (ā€œThe Dummy Fairy will visit!ā€)

✨ Offer a soft toy or blanket instead

Remember — you’re not giving in, you’re tuning in. 🌈

At Play-Ed Zone, we believe in connection over pressure and learning through love and play. šŸ’•

Every stage is precious — let’s nurture it gently.
